I think any business traveler will agree with me that a specific condition afflicts business travelers: Call it hotel gloom, an amorphous melancholy that seems to thrive in the perfectly serviceable hotel rooms of anything more than R1000 per night.

Traveling for business can often be tiring and stressful, but staying at the right hotel can help ensure a better experience and this is why I thought of sharing with you why I keep on going back to the same hotel in Johannesburg when I travel for business.

I have had a relationship with Fire & Ice Hotel in Melrose Arch for almost 5 years now. It started when I started working from the hotel around 2012.

I had a great relationship with the hotel’s previously GM, Anton Gillis and the same relationship carried through with the now General Manager, Gabriella Abrahams. Having these relationships are part of the vital connection any traveler should establish when they want to make a hotel their home-away-from-home.

Thanks to its location in Melrose Arch, near the economic hub of Africa, business travellers have easy access to and from the area’s main attractions. The hotel also offers a variety of boardrooms should you wish to book your meetings there.

Another reason I love this hotel is their excellent Wi-Fi connection and attention to detail to every frequent traveler’s needs, in my case they know I love sparkling water and ensure it is in my room upon arrival.

As someone that enjoys a great night’s rest, Fire & Ice Melrose Arch for sure assist in that department. Their beds, including the linen, are of great quality and their window thickness keeps sound out and when I am deep in slumber, I don’t want a ray of sunlight bursting through the shade to wake me prematurely, they even ensure that does not happen with their great curtaining and blinds.

But the most crucial part why I love Fire & Ice Melrose Arch for business trips is that their hotel staff create a customized, differentiated experience that will encourage me to keep coming back.

Gabriella and her team understands my needs as a customer of their hotel and they make me feel part of their family, something that is truly important to me.
