We recently had the opportunity to meet Kamo, the founder & creative director of WILLKATE Blog.
Having worked with her on a number of influencer campaigns the past 2 years, we learned that Kamo is not only a well-respected influencer within the industry, but she has also managed to turn her passion & flair for fashion into a lucrative blogging career and has built a strong professional team in the process! Below she shares more with us.
Describe yourself and what you do in 1 paragraph:
I blog for a living, meaning I create luxury and editorial content for brands to be used on social media or online. However, from time to time I am a creative director, where brands will contact me to consult them on an idea and execute the plan successfully. Then lastly, I also do personal styling occasionally. I live, eat, breathe creativity on a daily basis in some way.
How long have you been on social media?
6 years or so.
How long have you had your blog (if relevant)?
I have had WILLKATE for 5 years now, but have worked on it full time for 1 and a half years.
What are your 3 essential items in your wardrobe?
A blazer, a white tee and perfect formal flat shoe.
Who is your inspiration?
So many different women who are strong and succeeding in some area of their life, whether it be marriage, family, their business or career. I get inspired by different women on a monthly basis.
Favourite place to shop?
Revolve.com – I have a love-hate relationship with online stores. But revolve has almost anything.
Do you prefer shopping online or going to the store?
Depends, I spend more time shopping online but prefer trying clothes on in a store.
What has been your ultimate favourite fashion item to find?
That’s a tough one! I would say a designer handbag. I love handbags of all shapes, sizes and styles. Right now, I am obsessing over Dior bags.
What sparked your love/passion for fashion?
My mother – believe it or not. She used to dress me up all the time when I was younger, and I had so much confidence and sass, that emotion sparked so high within me that I always knew that the fashion industry is where I see myself in the future.
How would you describe your style?
Simple, minimal, elegant and graceful.
How do you stay current with what’s new or in style at the moment?
Instagram, Pinterest and researching online about new trends or things. It’s one of my favourite things to do. I do it on a daily basis.
Do you have any tips for someone wanting to start a fashion blog?
High-quality images that don’t have to be owning an expensive camera but it just means that if you are using your phone – learn how to get the best images out of it, by learning editing skills or photography skills. And authentic to who you are, get an aesthetic and stick to it.
