We recently met up with international model and beauty influencer Chelsea Rose Hart in London to chat about life since she moved to the U.K, life as a model and beauty influencers since she married her rugby player husband, Grayson Hart in Bali in 2017.
How long have you been on social media?
I have been on social media since the very beginning, and have been obsessed ever since in sharing images and stories about my life and career.
What are your 3 beauty product essentials?
Oh gosh, I have a whole lot more than 3 essentials, but if I have to choose, it would be sunscreen (never ever leave the house without it) I currently use Kypris Heliotropic SPF 30 sunscreen & primer, Pai Rosehip facial oil and Skoon Phyto Red beauty Aid cream (this one smells to die for & I mix a few drops of Reship oil for days when I need a little extra hydration).
What are your opinions on a skincare regime?
I think skincare is the most essential piece of the beauty puzzle. I know there are some products out there on the market, all claiming to do different things, it can somewhat be a little overwhelming, but if you take the time to do a little research, you will be sure to find the products that work best for YOUR skin. Everyone is different, and need certain products to help them a little along the way. I genuinely do believe that your skin is the window into what is going on with your body. I know some people could not be fussed to spend so much time on a lengthily routine, I hear you, but you can find a shorter routine that works for you. Me, on the other hand, I take 20min every evening and morning to truly connect with myself while doing my routine. I find it to be relaxing and calming, which sets me up for a great day! A routine can be seen as self-love, and let’s face it, we all need a significant portion of self-love, every single day. I want to make sure that I am always giving my body the best that I can, so I ALWAYS read my ingredients list before purchasing any products.
Any tips for picking out the best foundation?
I probably use foundation almost every single day of my life, and with the job I have, I have probably tested them all. I prefer to use a foundation that isn’t harmful to my skin( vegan and organic, but that’s a personal preference) and I hate anything that looks too cakey and leaves me looking flat. I am all about the glowing skin and the healthy look, so I choose foundations that are not matte finished and that do not have full coverage. I never test colours out on my hand either, because your hand is hardly ever, the right colour of your face. I always test the foundation on my jawline and down my neck, and try to match it to my chest, instead of my face. The reason I do this is that I wear SPF every day, and my face is always lighter than my chest and body. Some of the foundations I would recommend that I use daily that are organic are Jane Iredale Glow time BB cream, Dr Hauscka, or Nude by Nature Flawless Liquid foundation. Some of the other brands I used to use pre-organic were YSL Touche Eclat Foundation and Chanel Vitalumière satin fluid foundation. These all leave the skin with a healthy natural looking finish.
Do you remember your first makeup item? If so what was it?
Yes! I remember the first time my mum bought me a foundation. It was a full coverage matte finished foundation from Revlon. I used my hands to apply it, and it was two colours too dark for my face, but you know, I have started from the bottom, now I am here! A little wiser – LOL!
What cosmetics brand have you always wanted to try but still haven’t?
Being only into organic products, it is sometimes difficult to have access to some of the best brands. In London, we have a fair share of great products, and I have been lucky enough to try most of them out, but I have been eyeing a brand called ILIA out, which are soon launching their full range in the UK and a great natural haircare brand called Briogeo.
Do you have a favourite place to shop for makeup?
I do all my beauty hauls and shopping from my all time favourite site Naturissimo. They stock all the best organic beauty and cosmetic brands, and they are so efficient. I prefer this because firstly, I trust the store and their standards to provide their customers with outstanding quality products with zero nasties and they have the most significant variety of products available to choose from. They too have a section of mini products available to purchase for next to nothing, which is always a great way to sample some products before you buy them.
What brand do you think has the best packaging?
Nude by Nature for cosmetic products- all in rose gold and looks pretty and Skoon for beauty products- which are all mainly white and minimalistic, simple and clean.
5 favourite beauty gurus?
My ultimate beauty queen guru is Valeria Lipovetsky; she is my all time favourite YouTuber for the latest organic products to try. Teri Miyahira is another one I adore, Organic Bunny, Lilly Wallace
What do you love about makeup?
I think; personally, makeup should never be used to make you feel good about yourself, Because we are all beautiful regardless of whether or not we have great skin or wearing makeup. Makeup should be used as an expression of oneself, a way to accentuate one’s features, to add a little extra to an outfit or possibly even play a character for the day. Makeup is a super fun expression of yourself, that we get to change around almost every single day, how fun!
How often do you wash your make up brushes?
Oh Lord, every single week. I have seen makeup artists in my time as a model who has dirty brushes and it completely freaks me out. Those brushes hold SO much grime and bacteria, which you allow to be then rubbed all over your face- GROSS. It’s super important to keep them clean before using them on your precious face. I wash my brushes every single Sunday evening, with laundry detergent. The reason I use this is that it’s super gentle on the fibres on the brush. If you use hard chemicals, it can make the brush fibres fallout a lot easier. I cannot stress enough how important it is to wash your brushes ladies.
